Celebrations -
“Celebration is an attitude. We are happy in our skin. We are happy in our family. We are happy in our work. We are happy in our country. This is the ultimate appreciation of daily life.”
Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche

“Hear blessings, dropping their blossoms around you”

Our baby puppy boy, Taj, Coronado Star Of India made his show ring debut, at 6 months, 2 days old, at Cranbrook, B.C.
Taj came away with two Best Puppy in Group wins, and 6 points toward his Championship.
Cranbrook is in a beautiful mountain setting. Taj thoroughly enjoyed the “Dog Party” aka dog show, and he had a lovely time meeting families and kids.
We’re looking forward to our second outing later this fall.

Congratulations to 4 of our boy Persi‘s offspring after the Battle River Shows and Trials in Camrose, March 25 to 27, 2011.

Persi and Margaret Rose’s daughter, BPIG Ch. Coronado Kandansk Prestigious RN, CGN, now adds RA to her name, with the successful completion of her Rally Advanced title and she achieved the first leg of her Rally Excellent, as well.

Leilani (Coronado Heavenly Flower) was certified as a Pet Therapy Dog by St. John Ambulance in Sept 2010. Ordinarily, St. John Ambulance allows only two Therapy dogs to be certified and working with each handler. With SJA sanction, Leilani is a pilot project and we are working to demonstrate that three dogs can do well as volunteering members of the community. Leilani has been enjoying her visits at Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre. She is called “The Baby” by the staff, who, since Leilani’s birth, has been eagerly awaiting her appearance, as a canine volunteer.

Recently, we enjoyed the privilege of speaking to a group of student nurses about Therapy Dogs and their work. They were open, and enthusiastic about the prospect of welcoming visiting dogs in their future workplaces.

An article which I wrote about the Therapy Dog work being done by my Standard Poodles has been published in “Poodle Papers” the newsletter of the Poodle Club of America. It will also be published, with several updates, in the Dec/Jan 2011 annual issue of Canine Review magazine. Please click here to read the article.

In June 2010, Porsche, Ch. Coronado Kandansk Prestigious added CGN and R.N. to her name, as she attained her Rally Novice title and Canine Good Neighbor title, in the same weekend, handled by her dad, Mogens Albrecht. Well done!

Margaret Rose’s latest accomplishment is that she has achieved her Rally Novice title in three straight trials with class placement and High in Class. This was on Easter weekend at the Red Deer and District Kennel Club shows and Trials. Margaret Rose makes everything she does, look easy.

In January 2010, Margaret Rose’s brother, Levi, along with Cindy Harvey was certified by St. John Ambulance as a Children’s Therapy Dog. This is Levi’s second Therapy Dog certification, following his 2009 certification as a Pet Therapy Dog.

Margaret Rose, is also a Pet Therapy Dog and Children’s Therapy Dog in the St. John Ambulance Program. She and I continue to visit, twice each week, at Red Deer Regional’s Peds Unit and with siblings in the Atrium of the Special Care Nursery.

We’ve had numerous reasons to celebrate in 2009, beginning the year with a long awaited litter of puppies.

It’s been a year of great change with Ron retiring in the fall, from his responsibilities overseeing 7 radio stations. He is enjoying a much different pace of life and has added fresh air and exercise to his daily regimen. That’s cause for celebration !

Our Persi sired his second litter, out of Cindy Harvey’s girl Diana, Ch. Dilquin’s Unbridled Princess SJA Pet Therapy Dog.

The puppies are stunning and a credit to their parents and grandparents. We’ll certainly enjoy watching them grow up.

We ‘ve been enjoying raising , socializing, loving and finding good homes for a litter of orphaned kittens.

We’re so pleased that Sachi, Levi and Envy’s daughter, Ch. Coronado Espree Blue Skies AHA , SJA Pet Therapy Dog, has been certified by St. John Ambulance for Pet Therapy.

Congratulations to Cindy Harvey on the St. John Ambulance Pet Therapy Certification of her Levi daughter, Diana, Ch.Dilquin’s Unbridled Princess ,SJA Pet Therapy Dog.

Margaret Rose is a wonderful mother. The puppies are vigorous, plump as can be, and unbelievably active for newborns.

Margaret Rose and I are taking a bit of maternity leave from Hospital and Hospice Pet Therapy Volunteering, until the puppies are weaned.

2007 and 2008 have been a time of quiet and meaningful shifts.

Vivi came back to live with us.Having her in our arms and on our laps again,
is wonderful.
Vivi achieved her Canadian Championship in 2007 .with a few days of shows.
Vivi shares her sweet self by visiting a hospice with me , each week.

Margaret Rose became a St. John Ambulance Pet Therapy dog. We do weekly visitations with hospital patients.Watching Margaret Rose’s compassion and intuitiveness with so many people is humbling and inspiring.

In 2008, Margaret Rose passed , with flying colors, the St. John Ambulance evaluation for a dog working with children. This enables Margaret Rose to become the first, and long awaited, Pet Therapy Dog to visit the pediatrics unit of our local hospital.
We hope that you will visit the Pet Therapy page on our website.

Volunteering as Dog Show committee workers led to , as always the Poodle Club of America in Salisbury ,Maryland, where we enjoyed the ocean , the wild ponies and fresh seafood, in the company of good friends.

Later in 2007, committee work took us to Long Beach, California, for a different ocean,, Catalina Island, the Queen Mary, and more good friends.

The highlight of the Long Beach trip was a lovely reunion with Bijou,a beautiful daughter of
Levi and Envy.
This is a photo of Bijou with her family, Marianne, John and Anne Offerman, Ron and I,with the great view of Long Beach Harbor, in the background.

I became a reiki master in late 2007, with the intention of offering the healing energy to
animals, as a way of saying thank you ,for their companionship and unconditional love.

Watch for a Reiki for Animals page on our website.

In early 2008, Margaret Rose’s brother Levi , with his owner Cindy, joined the St. John Ambulance Pet Therapy team. They visit a nursing home, each week.Levi and Cindy are active in Agility and Rally, as well.

Levi and Envy’s son Gable, has been doing great things in the Agility rings in Nova Scotia.

Please check out the Agility and Rally Obedience page on our website.

Persi and Sachi have joined me in Agility Classes. Sachi, Vivi and Margaret Rose are in Rally classes with me.

It’s been our great pleasure to become involved, along with some of our dear friends, in helping in a small way, locally, to raise funds for the Himalayan Orphanage Project.

Here is a picture of some of our Tibetan friends performing a traditional dance, at a dinner in Red Deer.

Grace & Karma

We welcomed two new members of our family in the summer of 2008, kittens, Grace and Karma. The photo shows the kittens enjoying a perch on a table.
